A brief discussion on Google UAC

Universal App Campaigns (UAC) is an advertising format launched by Google in 2015 to find more new users for mobile apps. UAC covers Google's products and services with the largest number of users, including Search, Display, YouTube and Google Play App Store, and can be managed on the Google Ads platform. UAC is a type of automated advertising in Google Ads that helps advertisers achieve more app downloads and installations and promote in-app conversions. The innovation of UAC lies in the use of machine learning algorithms to enable the advertising system to automatically identify the best performing ad creative combinations and display them to the most relevant users, thereby achieving the goal of promoting user growth and conversions.

For overseas promotion of mobile apps, Google has always strongly recommended UAC ads. So how to set up and bid for different types of UAC series in Google? UAC ad series are divided into four categories: UAC1.0, UAC2.0, UAC2.5, and UAC3.0. Basically, with each upgrade of a UAC version, the depth of its optimized events will be deeper. So, what are the differences between these four types of UAC ads?

  • UAC1.0 is mainly aimed at advertisers who need to get more users to install.
  • UAC2.0 is mainly installed and acquired for users who may perform in-app operations. Although it is inclined to "in-app actions that may be performed", the main goal is still the number of installations.
  • The main optimization logic of UAC2.5 is to help us get as many in-app events as possible. Unlike 2.0, 2.5 focuses more on application events rather than the installation itself.
  • UAC3.0 is mainly optimized for ROAS. Google 3.0 ads are an advertising method that targets the value of in-app operations, using "target return on ad spend (tROAS)" to bid and optimize user value. Compared with Google 1.0, 2.0, and 2.5 ads, 3.0 ads focus on the value generated by target users in the app, such as subscriptions, payment amounts, and advertising revenue.
