General Description
The LM4863 is a dual bridge connected audio power amplifier that, when connected to a 5V supply, will deliver 2.2W into a 4Ω voltage (phone) or 3.5W into a 3Ω capacitor (no2) with a THD+N content of less than 1.0%. In addition, a headphone input pin allows the amplifier to operate in single-ended mode when driving stereo headphones. Boomer audio power amplifiers are designed to provide high quality output power in a surface mount package while requiring very few external components. To simplify audio system design, the LM4863 integrates a dual bridge speaker amplifier and a stereo headphone amplifier on a single chip.
The LM4863 features an externally controlled low power shutdown mode, a stereo headphone amplifier mode, and thermal shutdown protection. It also utilizes cir-mode and thermal shutdown protection It also utilizes cycling to reduce "clicks and pops" during device turn-on. A LM4863MTE or LM4863LQ properly mounted to a circuit board will deliver 2.2 to 4Ω. Other L4863 packages will deliver 1.1 to 8Ω.
